Explore Georgia, claims that Blue Ridge is one of the top destinations for travel in the state.  Well, they are right on, and we have many reasons to continue to come to Blue Ridge all year around.  Here are some samples of things to do while in renting a cabin in Blue Ridge, GA this holiday season.  These are some of the items that are going on in Blue Ridge for the week of November 23, 2013 – November 30, 2013.  While staying in Blue Ridge Cabin Rentals there are many opportunities for fun in the sun, even if it is cold.
Blue Ridge on Ice:  Come and write your name in the ice, while shaving some skim off of it.  Blue Ridge on Ice is located in the downtown Blue Ridge in the City Park, and is good for beginners and those of you who have some skating experience.
Blue Ridge Annual Turkey Trot: Downtown Blue Ridge City Park

Blue Ridge Turkey Trot 2012 was a huge success, thanks to the 536 people who participated this year!  A lot of fun was had by all, be sure to put this on your calendar for 2013!  The Blue Ridge Turkey Trot is a family event, enjoyed by all ages and abilities. From mom and dad pushing infants in strollers to the very competitive athletes, all enjoy a fun time together to kick off the Thanksgiving day. Whether, you walk, jog, or run, you will enjoy this one-of-a-kind event. Registration cost is $17.00 Funds raised from the Blue Ridge Turkey Trot are donated to charities located in Blue Ridge.  We would like to ask each participant to bring a can or non perishable food item on the morning of the event. All collected food will be donated to Feed Fannin.  Join us at the Downtown Park on Main Street on Thanksgiving Day, November the 28th, 8:00 A.M. for a 5K race/walk Registration begins at 7:00am and the 5K run begins at 8:00am.   Each participant must register at the website below.   You may contact Barry Greenleaf at (727)458-8556
A Christmas Story:   Blue Ridge Community Theater
2591 E. First Street  (Directly across from The Swan Drive-In Sign) Play by Philip Grecian adapted from Jean Shepherd’s film.  “You’ll Shoot your eye out!” A family comedy destined to become a theatrical holiday favorite.  Play runs from Nov. 29th through Dec. 15th.  Showtimes are Thursday’s through Saturday’s at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday’s at 2:00 p.m. Blue Ridge Community Theater 706-632-9223
Blue Friday:  Downtown Blue Ridge While most have a celebration of Black Friday, here in Blue Ridge we have Blue Friday.  The Friday after Thanksgiving in Downtown Blue Ridge, will have music, events, and great deals.  The stores run their Christmas specials, you will hear The Christmas Story coming from shops, and they will be staying open late for a wonderful atmosphere.  Come on down and stay a while, and enjoy the Blue Friday events.
Santa Express Train Ride:  Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad
Downtown Historic District of Blue Ridge Opening day for the Santa trips.  Check their schedule for exact times and days. Treat your friends to an Old-fashioned Christmas.  Sing Christmas carols and visit with Santa and his elves.  The Santa Train runs various dates beginning on Friday, November 29th, through Tuesday, December 24th.   Contact the train for details on times and specific dates.  Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad 706-632-8724
Light up Blue Ridge:  Downtown Blue Ridge
Old-fashioned holiday celebration in downtown Blue Ridge.  The 2013 schedule starts off with Tuba Christmas performing at 10:30 a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus arrive on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway at 11:15.  There will be a parade at 11:30.  Live music throughout the day.  Trackless train rides around town. and much more!  Lighting of the tree will be between 6:00 followed by live music from 7 to 8 p.m.  Downtown shops will be open late so bring the whole family for a holiday of fun, perfect to start the season off right.   City of Blue Ridge 706-632-5680
The Swan Drive In:  Where the old meets the new.  What a cool thing to do while snuggled up with the one you love.  Go to one of the few remaining drive ins in the state.  The Swan Drive In features current new release movies, and most of the time there are double features.  However, due to the length of some movies they can only show one per night.
