Whenever you are visiting the North Georgia Mountains, most people have to treat themselves to a yummy sweet treat! Even if you are on a diet, vacation usually means you are going to blow it at least once. If not, then you definitely have more will power than me! There are several amazing places where you can grab a delicious treat when you visit the quaint downtown area of Blue Ridge, Georgia!
The Sweet Shoppe is a delicious spot to grab a cupcake, cheesecake and a variety of other desserts. All of their goodies are made from scratch and served with kind southern hospitality. They are located in the historic downtown Blue Ridge area. Stop by for a quick treat or have them provide some quality gourmet desserts at a special wedding or party. Blue Ridge is proud to have the season six winner of the “cupcake wars” in the community!
Who is a fudge lover? It may be easier to ask who isn’t? Three Sisters Fudge is also located in the downtown area and serves some of the best fudge and ice cream around. Sisters Kristian, Karlie and Kaitlin are the inspiration of the name of this original Blue Ridge fudge shop. They make this mouthwatering fudge from scratch with real cream and butter. Not exactly a diet choice but again who is counting calories? Eat outside their shop or take these goodies back to your cabin where you can enjoy your mountain view or listening to the sounds of the creek where your Georgia mountain cabin is located!
Speaking of fudge and ice cream….The Chocolate Express is another way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Owners Dennis and Linda fell in love with the town of Blue Ridge when they came to visit the North Georgia Mountains. Originally from Florida, they craved to relocate to this amazing area and decided to buy this adorable shop. Here you can enjoy over 25 varieties of fudge made from scratch and using only the freshest ingredients. They carry over 60 different types of chocolates and an outstanding selection of sugar free candies. They also offer a variety of gifts as well as Mayfield Ice Creams and old fashioned sodas.
Last but not least is an icon in Blue Ridge that I spoke of in one of my other restaurant articles. Merciers Orchards is home of some peach and apple pies that will make your mouth water! A bakery is on site at Mercier’s and they offer so many treats that will make you remember this place. Enjoy eating inside, or take your treat outside to enjoy the beautiful view of the orchards. Make memories with your family by picking your own apples and strawberries in their orchard when they host u-pick weekends.
These four great places can surely offer you that delicious treat that we all must have at least once while enjoying ourselves in the mountains! Stay tuned for my next blog post regarding night life in downtown Blue Ridge!
